Lucy {Birth Story} Utah Birth Photographer

Watching this whole birth unfold was nothing short of a miracle. I met Holly, the amazing mommy, at one of my receptions that was hosted in their backyard! She was about ready to pop and was very interested in getting a birth story of her own after seeing them on my blog. This was going to be her last baby (#5) and completing this adorable family. I was so excited to be a part of documenting every aspect of it and seeing how involved every member of the family was! All the kids were so excited and stuck it out for nearly 22 hours of labor!!! whew! Holly is my hero. And sweet little Lucy was worth every bit of the wait...

Big sister Hannah was a huge part of the day. She helped the nurse and her mom as much as she could!

Being that it was her last pregnancy, we did a little impromptu belly shoot :)

Holly, her husband and the doctor decided that if nothing happened by 3:00 p.m. they would go for a c-section... low and behold, right @ 3 things started to really happen! Hurray!!!

This shot literally brought tears to my eyes while I took it...

These high school sweetheart's were so much fun! Their backyard reception was great for a late summer wedding... not to mention nothing says summer more then S'MORES! Also the cute combination of navy blues and pinks were just lovely. Andi Saxton and her team at Sego Event Planning and Floral Design did an amazing job! I also love the navy striped linens from Marcie Taylor Events!

Now normally I don't post this many cake pictures... but I just loved the sequence with these two! haha

One of the benefits of having a little time off in January is updating the blog! This past year was a whirlwind of weddings and I am so excited to share them with you on here!! Looking back at these summer nuptials makes me long for warmer days...

Rachel and Jeremy choose the perfect Rocky Mountain setting for their big day! I love how naturally beautiful everything was, including the bride!! Her bridemaids were all in different hues of blues which lead to a lovely combination. It was a fun, laid back day and all about celebrating the love of two beautiful people. What more could you ask for?!

Rachel's older sister presided over the wedding ceremony. It was a very special thing for the both of them :)

Well what a great way to start out a new week by being featured on not one, but TWO blogs today!! :) Both weddings were some of my favs this year, not only because of the amazing details but the couple's themselves!

Bliss Wedding Blog featured Chelsey and Dillion's October wedding full of fun, heritage and yummy food! This couple and their family were so incredibly sweet and the whole day was just wonderful! Click here to see more!

Next was another one of my favorite weddings of the year... Kelli and Jared's gorgeous wedding was featured on Utah Bride Blog today!! Being an incredible florist and fellow vendor, I just knew that Kelli would be all about the details and she did not disappoint! It was a perfect balance of elegance and femininity and complimented the venue to a T! Click here to see more!

And for those of you that missed this... one of the highlights for us here at Cascio Photographer in 2011 was being featured at one of UBB's BEST GROOMAL SESSIONS OF 2011!!!! It was such a wonderful surprise and I am pretty sure I squealed like a little girl on more than one occasion because of it! Thank you again to Megan and Audrey at Utah Bride Blog and I am so honored to continue to be a preferred vendor in 2012!

Merry Christmas!!

I know that we all LOVE Christmas... but for me, I almost love Christmas Eve most of all. The excitement and the anticipation on my kids faces' is about as good as it gets!! They are so eager to be good and smiling from ear to ear while talking about what's to come the very next morning. Tonight as we were finishing up eating some pumpkin chocolate cookies, reading both "The Night Before Christmas" and from the bible in Luke Chapter 2, and playing with the kids... I just couldn't help but feel so complete. Sure the presents are fun, but moments like this are what its really about. I am sooooo very thankful for such amazing family, friends and clients that make my heart so full this holiday season!! May the spirit of the season touch your heart and warm your soul!

Proud moment for me this year... I finally made stockings!!! :) I am so picky about ones in the store so I have just been using the dollar store specials for the last 7 years! haha Now we finally have cute ones and I am pretty dang happy about them (you will notice I took a few angles just to prove it)!

I know its not the most creative way to display these cute cards... but it makes me happy to see them up on my door!

This is going to be a picture overload post for sure! But how can you help that when you have a gorgeous couple like Kylee and Alexander?! They have such a fun style to them and were totally up for riding around to see what new location we could find on the fly for them! And it worked out amazingly if I do say so myself. One of the locations we used for their formals I have to keep a secret for now, because in a couple months its going to be on the cover of BLISS magazine!! SO keep watching for the unveiling of that!
And I have mention their awesome backyard reception with pizzas made fresh from a stone oven... YUM! Its now a must for my future dream home! haha

Inspiration Part III {The Boho} Utah Wedding Photographer

And here we are, Part THREE of this series of amazing inspiration shoots!!! I hope you have enjoyed watching the transformation as much as I did!! :) This last one is near and dear to my heart... because it was the vision I first saw in my head the day I bought this perfect dress. I knew who was going to wear it, where it was going to be, and what kind of feeling would come from those images. Of course I fell completely in love with each and every look, but this is the grand finale to me.

These two were the only "couple" that weren't a real couple to begin with! But I think they made us all believe in the chemistry and they played their parts wonderfully!! It's a lot to ask of people who hardly know each other to gaze into one another's eyes like that! Lucky for me I knew Whitney was very comfortable in front of the camera (you may recognize her from my flashing header up top as a blondie!) and Chris is a very talented wedding videographer behind Digital Memorys, so I knew he would know just how a pose or an expression would look like on the other side of the camera! Not to mention their obvious good looks ;) hehe

Because of the amount of detail put into this set up and the fading light (which was PERFECT towards the end!), we split this one up into two days. So if you notice that somethings change here and there, that's why! But we couldn't help ourselves!
A couple facts before I get to the pictures... this bouquet has NO flowers! Amazing huh?! And also, yours truly did the cake. Yep, me. But it was my first and last! Whew... I don't know how they do it!

Inspiration Part II {The Mod} Utah Wedding Photographer

When making plans for "The Mod" I knew one thing for sure... it had to be BOLD!! Both in color and patterns. But it was also very important to keep it very stream line and contemporary at the same time! I chose The Performance Hall up on the campus at USU for its sleek design and amazing texture for the backdrop of this vibrant set up. It was so fun to see the same dress go from pretty in pink, to POW with bright tights and those eye lashes! This shoot was especially exciting for us because not many brides choose the more fashion forward approach to their wedding planning, but the end result of this shoot is nothing but inspiring!

Inspiration Part I {The Jackie} Utah Wedding Photographer

So if you are just tuning in a missed the post from this morning telling the story behind the dress click here! If you are like me and have been dying to see/share this first of three inspiration shoots, the wait is over!!!
For "The Jackie" we knew that we had to keep the style very simple and elegant, just like Mrs. Jackie Kennedy herself. We decided to go for gold accents and blushy pink feminine flowers to contrast with a classic navy. Pearls were also a must have for this session! I envisioned this wedding to be of a soldier just home from the war, reunited with his sweetheart and Lindsay and Daren fit that look to a T! The Air Force uniform is a real antique from WWII!! The pillbox hat was a perfect find for her from good old e-bay! It was love at first sight just like the dress. Top it off with the classic car and the perfect venue for a time period look that really takes you back to that era!

It started with a dress.

Inspiration can take on many forms for an artist. For me, one late summer evening, it was a dress. Tucked away on the second floor of this cute little antique shop I found this beauty... for only $9! I knew then and there I had to do something really special.

But my biggest dilemma was what theme would I choose? At first I thought maybe a more bohemian look would be fun... the flower headband on the forehead, the belt around the waist. But the next person I talked to thought it looked more "Jackie Kennedy" with a pillbox hat and pearls. The next person disagreed and said it was totally Mod with bold prints and contemporary style. I loved the sound of each one... I couldn't decide between three very different but equally amazing inspiration shoots.

So I did all three.

So... TODAY (Wednesday), Thursday and Friday you will get to see this perfect dress transform for three different "weddings".
It was been such an honor to work with so many incredible vendors who devoted their time and talents to this project. I am forever grateful for the relationships I have with other people in this industry to make things like this happen!

I have to take a minute to tell all my amazing clients how thankful I am for them!!! This year has been one amazing one and its thanks to them! It's days like today that make you stop and take account of all the blessings you have been given and I have so many that come to mind. Most of all, I am thankful for my own little family. They are the reason I live... the reason I get up in the morning and the inspiration I need in every step of the way.

I love you Bryan, Brayden, Riley and Avery with all my heart!!

Kizna + Alex {Engagements + Wedding Day} Utah Wedding Photographer

Its not everyday that you get a couple like Kizna and Alex. Both pilots from USU and wanting to incorporate that into their wedding from beginning to end! Once I heard the word "airplane" I was all over it! They were such a sweet couple to work with and Kizna's dimples are about the cutest things I've ever seen! We had so much fun out on the runway with their engagements. And what better place to host your reception than an AIRPLANE HANGER!!!

I have to say special thanks to Vicki with Ella Bella Floral for the referral and making this wedding all come together! Her talent never ceases to amaze me :)
The signage was done by Nikkol with Peter Loves Jane, another personal favorite!

Deacon {Newborn} Utah Newborn Photographer

Here is my new sweet little nephew Deacon! I am sooooo happy to be out here in California for 8 whole days to help my little sis, snuggle this cutie and take a million pictures of him along the way! I can't believe he is already a week old today. Time goes by so fast at this stage and I am trying to capture every tiny detail for Chelsey and Josh to treasure forever!

Here's a few I got of him the first day. They are so simple, but I love that about them! He loves to be swaddled and I just love the look on his face in this first one... it looks like a little smirk.

Love those wrinkles :)

The rest of these we took today... we just did one set up but I think we got some good ones! We are planning a few more looks for while I am here, but I couldn't wait to post these! Proud Auntie B here :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Fall is by far my favorite season! I love the crisp air, changing leaves and the many forms of pumpkins... carved or cookies! Not to mention all the fun festivities to be had during the month of October. But if you ask my kids they just can't wait for HALLOWEEN! I can't even begin to count how many times they have asked me "how many more days til Halloween mom?" Well the day has finally arrived and my kids are just dying to put on those costumes and get some candy :)
But first, what kind of photog mom would I be without a mini session of them all dressed up. Of course like always the girls' had a 2 second attention span for me so I got what I could. Brayden on the other hand is always up for a little photo shot with his mom.
I love these three so much and we have so much fun!

Brayden {The RED Power Ranger}
Thanks to Netflix he is practically an expert on everything Power Ranger. He could probably tell you the Zorg of each Ranger on every show (trust me I know). Boys ;) But I have to admit he has mad skills with those kicks!

Riley {The Butterfly}
Always the girly one, I was not surprised that she picked to be a butterfly. She loves using her butterfly charms on any handmade necklaces she makes for me :)

Avery {The Strawberry}
Sometimes super sweet, sometimes a little to tart... yep! That about sums up this little cutie/stinker!

Its also a tradition in our family to go to the Pumpkin Walk :)

Chelsey + Dillon {Engagements + Formals} Utah Wedding Photographer

Once I met with Chelsey and Dillon for their consultation, I just knew we were going to click! They have an eye for detail and a very cool style about them. Its so nice to have such amazing couples that bring ideas to the table and really help with inspiration for their shoots! It makes it that much more personal and fun :)
For their engagements, we started with a little vintage camping/game night theme.... perfect for them because they love both. I also love the hammock they brought with them to continue the laid back feel for the session.
I loved the look and feel for their formal session! From the brown tux to the flowers full of texture! Perfect colors for a fall wedding. The day we shot their formals there was a storm a' brewing, but I don't think the wind couple have looked any cooler then that day!! I think it added a bit of drama and romance to the session.

I first met Kelli when she contacted me about a wedding I had done at The Point last November. She was an event coordinator for the venue and loved the pictures I got and wanted to feature them and I was happy to help! Months later she contacted me again, this time SHE was the bride and I was so excited to finally meet her in person! :) I have just loved every moment working with Kelli and Jared! They have such a fun chemistry and I love the story of how they came to be. I have also had the opportunity to work with Kelli as a fellow vendor and have become great friends in the process!! She is the amazing owner and floral artist with Blooms and Blossoms! I am so grateful for the both of them and all the amazing memories we have made along the way!

Courtney + Cam {Bridals + Wedding Day} Utah Wedding Photographer

I am blogging this while out of town in good ol' Chi Town! That's right CHICAGO! I love this place. I love the families I know here and the new ones I will meet. Its been so fun to catch up with some of my favorites and see how much their kids have grown in a year :) If anyone is from this area and would like to see if I have openings left during my visit, give me a call!

One good thing about being out of town... and away from my computer at home where I do all my editing... is the chance to catch up on some much needed blogging! Today we have some lovely bridals of Courtney, taken back in June during the short period when the poppies are in bloom. I LOVE those gorgeous flowers. So wild and free. They only last for a week or two, but they are worth the wait! Like like Courtney was for Cam I am sure :) Make sure to keep scrolling to see their amazing wedding.
